Azteco is a Bitcoin onboarding product designed to make cryptocurrency accessible without requiring recipients to navigate exchanges, create accounts, or manage private keys during the purchase step. The Lightning variant uses the Bitcoin Lightning Network, enabling near-instant settlement with lower transaction overhead compared to on-chain transfers. Recipients redeem by scanning a QR code with any compatible Lightning wallet, receiving the bitcoin value calculated at the market price at time of purchase. A 10% commission fee is built into the voucher price, so the recipient receives bitcoin net of that charge — something reward senders should communicate clearly. The denomination range of $1 to $1,000 USD gives program managers flexibility for micro-incentives, survey panel payouts, contractor bonuses, or crypto-native employee rewards. Currently available for US recipients only on GIFQ. The 30-day expiry from issue date is strict and shorter than most gift card products, making Azteco Lightning a poor fit for programs where recipients may take weeks to act.
