About Groupon
Groupon is a marketplace for local deals on things to do, see, eat, and buy, from restaurant meals and spa visits to fitness classes and travel experiences. For recipients, it offers the freedom to choose something they will actually enjoy, often at a significant discount. For businesses, that makes it a versatile reward or payout, especially for people who value experiences over cash.
GIFQ currently offers Groupon cards in two markets: Canada and the United States. The Canada card is denominated in Canadian dollars, and the USA card is denominated in US dollars. Each market's card works only in its own country on groupon.com, so you cannot use a Canada card for a US recipient or vice versa.
Cards in both markets can be issued for any amount between the local minimum of 10 and maximum of 200 in the local currency. Amounts, currency, and expiry are set per market, and the market pages on GIFQ list the full details for each.
Businesses use Groupon through GIFQ to pay out earnings or incentives to people in different countries from one place. You can send in bulk from the dashboard to reward a team across North America, or issue cards one at a time through the API for customer promotions, affiliate rewards, or research incentives. Since GIFQ is integrated with Groupon's redemption platform, recipients receive a code they can redeem online via their Groupon account.
When choosing a market for a recipient, pick the card that matches the country where they are based. For remote or traveling recipients, the card is tied to the country of issue, so you will need separate cards for people in Canada and the United States. Both cards have no expiry, but recipients must have a Groupon account to redeem them, and the value is added as account credit.
