Lees. Cadeaukaart is the Dutch gift card for readers. One card works both as a book token and a magazine voucher, so recipients can choose from paperbacks, e-books, comics, newspapers and niche magazines. In the Netherlands it is accepted in familiar high street chains: Primera, AKO, Bruna and ReadShop, plus the online stores Boeken.nl and bruna.nl.

A business can load between 10 and 50 euros, in any amount in that range. The card expires two years after activation, which is worth telling recipients who might otherwise leave it in a drawer. There are no fees to use it, and it can be spent in one go or across multiple purchases within that period.

Redeeming is straightforward. In a shop, the recipient shows the card or code at the till. Online, they select the card as payment method, enter the code and pin, and the amount is deducted. The card is not tied to a specific person, so it can be passed on, but whoever holds the code controls the balance.

GIFQ suits this card for several Dutch use cases. When you need to pay research participants or creators in the Netherlands, a Lees. card is a culturally familiar way to say thanks that they can actually enjoy. It also works as a staff reward for a reading campaign, a customer thank-you after a service interaction, or an incentive in a book-related promotion. One limit to keep in mind: Lees. Cadeaukaart only works in the Netherlands. If your recipients are spread across the eurozone or beyond, this card only fits the Dutch segment. For a purely Dutch audience that loves reading, it is a safe and flexible choice.
