About You Choose United Kingdom

A You Choose gift card is a way to give someone in the United Kingdom the freedom to pick a reward that means something to them. Instead of committing to one retailer, the recipient exchanges the card for an eGiftcard from a range of well-known retailers, restaurants, entertainment and experience brands. That flexibility solves a real problem for businesses sending payouts or rewards to a group where tastes differ, from a dispersed team to a broad customer base.

The card is issued in British pounds, with any value between £10 and £250. You set the amount per card when you order through GIFQ, so you can match the level of recognition to the situation. The card is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. After that, any remaining balance is cancelled, so recipients should exchange it promptly rather than leaving it unused.

To use the card, the recipient goes to youchooseagift.co.uk, enters the 14-digit code, and picks an eGiftcard from the participating brands. The chosen eGiftcard can be used in store or online, depending on the retailer. This card cannot be redeemed directly at a checkout; it must first be exchanged on the You Choose website. It will not be replaced if lost, stolen or damaged, so the code should be kept safe.

Through GIFQ, you can send You Choose cards to UK recipients in bulk from the dashboard or one at a time via the API. That works well for paying out earnings to freelancers or research participants in the UK, rewarding employees, or thanking customers without having to guess which brand they prefer. The card is only for the United Kingdom, so it is not the right choice for recipients in other countries.

One limitation to keep in mind is the 12-month expiry. If you are sending cards to people who may not use them quickly, a longer-validity or no-expiry card might work better. Also, because the card is exchanged for eGiftcards from a defined set of participating retailers, recipients who want cash or a very specific brand not on the list may find it less useful.
