About Esselunga Italy

The Esselunga gift card is a supermarket voucher for Italy, sold in fixed amounts of 10, 25, 50 and 100 EUR. It can be used only in physical Esselunga supermarkets, Bar Atlantic coffee bars and EsserBella beauty shops, not for online purchases. That makes it a sensible everyday reward for recipients who live or work within reach of an Esselunga store, especially in Lombardy, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont, Liguria, Lazio and Veneto where the chain has most of its locations.

Recipients cannot spend the card on esselunga.it or on the Esselunga online shop. To use it, they need to visit a dedicated prepaid card page, enter the code shown on the voucher, and either print a barcode to hand to the cashier or load the barcode into the Esselunga app and show it on a smartphone. The balance can be spent in one or more transactions, and the card is cumulative, which means it can be combined with other Esselunga gift cards at the till. It expires 24 months after issue.

For a business, Esselunga is a safe choice when you want to give people in Italy something practical that covers groceries and daily essentials. It works well as a thank-you for a team in Milan, a payout for field workers or gig workers who shop in person, or a compensation for research participants who live near a store. It is less suitable if your recipients are spread thinly across southern Italy, where Esselunga has no stores, or if they prefer to shop online. Since redemption is in-store only, the card is not a good fit for a fully remote, delivery-first group.

GIFQ lets you send Esselunga gift cards to multiple recipients in Italy in bulk from the dashboard, or one at a time through the API. The workflow is the same for any payout or reward use: you choose the amount, upload or select recipients, and the vouchers are delivered digitally. Each recipient receives a code they can turn into a barcode themselves. That extra step is not required for all supermarket cards, so if your audience is unlikely to print or use an app, consider whether a card that redeems directly at the till would be smoother.

This card is issued for Italy only and is not valid in any other country. If you also need to send rewards to people elsewhere in Europe, you would need a different card for each market. There is no cross-border version, and the voucher cannot be converted or redeemed online abroad.

From product selection to delivery

For a direct order, your business chooses this product, its value and the quantity. Review the card details alongside the recipient’s needs before including it in a bulk order or an integration.

  1. Check the market and value

The card details show the values and currency for this product. Use those to choose an amount that fits your budget and the recipient’s market. For a different country, explore the brand’s other market listings.

  2. Prepare the recipient’s instructions

Review the expiry information shown and the brand’s instructions. Check whether redemption requires an account or a particular channel. Deliver those instructions with the reward so the recipient knows how to use it.

  3. Choose direct ordering or recipient choice

If you need this particular card, order the selected product and value through the dashboard or API. If you want the person to choose the brand, confirm the options available for that payout before presenting the selection.

  4. Start with a small order

Test the flow with a small order and keep its reference. Check the status before repeating a request that appears delayed. In an integration, connect the GIFQ order to your own record so your team can follow up on delivery questions.
